Position Summary

Provides executive communications guidance and direction for the organization, serving in a consulting capacity to our CEO and executive team. Drives overall executive positioning strategy in support of our reputational and stakeholder outreach communications. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver consistent messaging that enhances the company's profile and reputation. Oversees executive thought leadership and internal and external visibility efforts (including executive social media and speaking opportunity evaluation). As a manager of staff, develop and lead a team to successfully implement initiatives and achieve goals, including all managerial duties. May manage external PR agencies and consultants as needed. Reports to the SVP, Chief Communications Officer.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Planning: Manages the business component of communications and planning efforts for assigned area. Plan, develop and execute results-oriented executive communications strategy, leveraging all platforms (traditional and non-traditional). Ensures alignment between employee communications, customer strategy, external affairs, and public relations efforts. Leverages internal and external networks to continually identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

  • Relationship Management: Collaborates with and effectively influences the executive team and internal stakeholders to ensure aligned key messaging and thought leadership is shared consistently throughout the company's various communications channels. Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Project/Operational Oversight: Executive coordinator for all communication and outreach programs/projects in corporate area. Reviews and authorizes all written and digital content, serving as editor-in-chief for areas served. Participates on project teams and serves on program/project steering committees as needed; identifies policy/political risks associated with communications and provides effective risk mitigation. Identifies opportunities to efficiently leverage external and internal facing communications to support our reputational messaging. Identifies new strategic opportunities that effectively further business objectives.

  • Regulatory, Legislative and Operational Crisis Support: Ensures that current/potential regulatory implications are factored into communication and outreach strategy. Responsible for agency relationship management. Leads special projects or initiatives identified by Communications leadership.

  • Monitor and measure efforts to further business outcomes. Stay on top of industry trends, shifts and competitor activity, and report as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related discipline required.

  • 10 - 15 years related experience and expertise in understanding executive communications, public relations, and the effective use of multiple channels in communication strategies, including solid track record of advising CEO and senior executive clients.

  • Exceptional creative, communication, strategic planning, time management and critical thinking abilities.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience with integrated utility and/or regulatory business and sound understanding of regulated utility industry trends preferred.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $139,400.00 to $197,466.66 per year
